My Throne Room Brothers and Sisters, here is a two part Holy Spirit inspired teaching on inspecting the fruit! Something whether we want to admit or not we all need training in! So let’s dig in, Holy Spirit You are welcome in this place in Jesus’ name amen!
Lord Jesus is teaching specifically in Matthew 7:15-20 on false prophets and teachers, however we can take the principle of bearing fruit and apply it also to our other relationships as well. Let’s take a look.
Matthew 7:15-18 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Beware is obviously a warning from the Lord. He is telling the disciples there are those among you who are FALSE, (leading you to believe they are one thing when they are another). So be aware, be forewarned, pay attention, be sober!
Also, noticed the analogy Lord Jesus uses in the description is not a superfluous one. He literally compares these FALSE people to RAVENOUS WOLVES! (Coming to literally greedily feed on you)!
The GOOD NEWS is the Lord gives us help by teaching us this principle on discernment and character (fruit). Can you picture the disciples as they listen, saying with wide open mouths and fear in their eyes, Wow Lord, RAVENOUS wolves? How will we know the wolves? How can we tell who they are? Lord Jesus tells them and teaches us the same principle ON HOW to discern or spot them: v. 16 You will know them by their fruits.
He goes on to pose the question to get us to have some mindful thought on this topic. The Lord poses this question:..Do men gather grapes from thorn-bushes or figs from thistles?
In other words, are you going to a THORN-BUSH thinking you aren’t going to get pricked by THORNS?! Are you assuming that you are going to get something soft and cuddly in return from that THORN BUSH? I personally find this kind of funny. I can imagine the Lord even joking about this…LOL.
He proceeds with yet another example to drive the point home about figs and thistles. To bring it closer to home, we could say, for example, do you go to a tax accountant assuming your car is going to get a free tune up or your lawn will be mowed when you get home?! The answer would be of course, “No, that makes no sense!” Some may be even add on a “DUH.” Clearly in this warning, the Lord points out that we are not as clever as we may think. In fact:
Isn’t it amazing sometimes to WHAT or WHO WE GO TO TO GET CERTAIN THINGS?
Are you looking to a person to fulfill something that his or her TREE does not produce?
If the FRUIT IS not on their TREE then NO MATTER how much YOU TRY, or WANT it to be there, YOU WON’T PRODUCE IT!Either wait on the SEED to be PRODUCED IN GOD’s TIMING or realize the FRUITS you are looking for may not have been SEEDED in the first place!
I pray you are being encouraged and leaning by the Holy Spirit! Are you being blessed? Would love to hear your comments below.
God bless you all, always in His Love and grace, your sis Sybella Owens
